Laser Surgery on the Eye
Lasers have many uses in treating eye disorders. One of the most common is with diabetic retinopathy, where the laser is used on the retina to stop blood vessel leakage and growth. Lasers are also used for treating glaucoma to lower eye pressure. Lasers are useful in treating retinal detachment, macular degeneration and capsular fibrosis following cataract surgery. Refractive lasers are used to reshape the cornea to reduce the need for glasses or contacts. Contact an eyecare professional for more information.
