Hanging Lower Eyelid
A drooping lower eyelid is called ectropian. With this condition the eyelid turns out allowing tears to roll out of the eye instead of remaining in to provide lubrication. This condition is caused by weakness of the eyelid muscles that hold the lid against the eyeball. Complications include excess tearing, redness, dry eye and infection. Treatment entails frequent lubrication with artificial teardrops and surgery to tighten the lid and hold it in the proper position. Contact an optometrist or ophthalmologist in your area for more information.
