Watering Eye
Watering eyes can be caused by a number of different conditions, including excessive tear production and blockage of the tear drainage system. Other causes include dry eyes, allergies, nasal problems, foreign bodies that are rubbing against the eye’s surface, infection of the eyelid, or inward growing eyelashes. If tearing occurs over a several-day period, an eye care specialist should be consulted. Through an examination of the eye and questions he or she will ask, the cause may be found. Treatment may consist of probing to remove any obstruction or irrigating fluid through the tear drainage system. In some cases an operation may be the best course of action. Consult an optometrist or ophthalmologist in your area for more information.
